Kentucky Bourbon Brisket

Kentucky Bourbon Brisket

A delicious and flavorful dish that combines the tenderness of brisket with the rich and aromatic flavors of bourbon. This dish is perfect for special occasions or a hearty family meal.

Ingredients

  • 4-6 pound beef brisket

  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt

  • 2 tablespoons cracked black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons grape seed oil

  • 1 cup shallots, chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup bourbon

  • 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

  2. In a small bowl, combine salt and pepper. Rub all over the brisket.

  3. Heat oil in a large Dutch oven or pot over medium-high heat. Sear brisket on all sides until a nice crust forms  to seal in juices & flavors.

  4. Remove brisket from pot and set aside.

  5. In the same pot, add the chopped shallots and garlic. Sauté until the shallots are translucent and the garlic is fragrant.

  6. Pour in the water and bourbon, scraping the bottom of the pot to loosen any browned bits. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  7. Stir in the apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika

  8. Return the brisket to the pot, place the pot in preheated oven and braise  for about 3 to 4 hours or until fork-tender.

  9. Baste occasionally, to keep it moist.

  10. Once the brisket is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15  minutes before slicing.
